Vacancy - Security Officer – Winchester

We have a great opportunity for Security Officers to join Venture Security's growing team in the Hampshire area.

£10.50 p/hr (£22,932 p/a) + overtime + pension
42hrs per week working nights/ weekends/ Bank Holidays
12 months fixed term contract

We are looking for security officers to work a 4-on4-off rotation working on behalf of Winchester City Council. Winchester City Council's Housing Options Service provides assistance to those who find themselves at risk of losing their home or who are already homeless. They do so by providing advice and assistance to resolve the housing situation or by finding alternative accommodation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide a visible, alert and reassuring security presence outside of normal office hours
  • Monitor entry into the premises
  • Manage visitors to the property
  • Undertake routine foot patrols
  • Monitor behaviour of residents ensuring house rules are adhered to
  • Respond to and manage incidents efficiently and effectively
  • Utilise dedicated technology which includes, body worn CCTV, check call systems, mobile applications, digital evidence management software and patrol timekeeping systems
  • Maintain effective communications with the project supervisor ensuring that issues are raised and dealt with promptly and effectively
  • Liaise with client representatives, police and other agencies as necessary
  • Complete necessary documentation including incident and occurrence reports as required

Details:

  • 12-hour shifts, 18:00 to 06:00hrs. Average 42 hours on a 4-on4-off rotation per week
  • Must be prepared to work any day of the week, which will include some weekends and bank holidays.
  • Pro rota paid annual leave

Candidate requirements:

  • Job holders must have a current and active SIA licence (either Door Supervisor or Close Protection)
  • Must be robust and willing to deal with challenging behaviour whilst maintaining a friendly approachable demeanour
  • Experience in social work or similar will be desirable but not essential
  • Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and 10-year background checks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to use own initiative to assess situations and respond appropriately
  • A good timekeeper and able to plan own workload
  • Smart, well-presented and confident
