2023: The one where Venture Security grew (again)!

What has been happening at Venture Security in 2023?

With the new year on the horizon, we’re taking a look back at some of our key highlights from the past 12 months.

Whether it was securing significant new security contracts, supporting major live events, or our officers being recognised for their impact on community safety, it has been another standout year for our team.

Here’s why….

  1. Venture jumps into action for Newbury Racecourse

We kicked off 2023 by securing a new security and stewarding contract for Newbury Racecourse. Since April, we have been supplying all event stewarding, crowd management and hospitality security services for the racecourse, including many high-profile racedays and live music events.

Newbury Racecourse is a Grade 1 racecourse and ranked among the top 10 racecourses in the UK. The racecourse has a long history of racing, having been in operation for more than 115 years and welcoming around 180,000 visitors annually.

It’s the second racecourse to call on our sporting venue services, with Salisbury Racecourse also relying on our sporting venue services for the last eight years.

  1. Introducing cutting-edge event security tech

Newbury Racecourse was also the first venue to benefit from a new technology partnership we launched we 2023.

We are now working with award-winning British technology provider Halo Solutions – the company behind the world’s most intelligent crowd safety, incident, and threat management platform Halo (v5) - to enhance crowd safety and security operations at major events.

The Halo (v5) platform has enabled us to take our services to another level, by providing instant logged communications, enabling faster command and control of our site-based operations.

  1. Tackling antisocial behaviour in Swindon

In July, we were awarded a contract by Swindon Borough Council to help tackle antisocial behaviour within the town centre and wider borough.

Our security officers are now acting as ‘Safer Street Wardens’, conducting daily patrols of the town centre and throughout Swindon, looking out for issues including alcohol consumption, excessive noise and intimidating behaviour.

We have provided similar services in Andover, Basingstoke, Fareham, Salisbury and Winchester, where the positive impact of our officers’ presence was quick to be seen. Further to this, we have recently been tasked by Wiltshire and Swindon’s Police and Crime Commissioner to provide safeguarding services to the nighttime economies of Salisbury, Trowbridge and Chippenham from early 2024, which will further showcase our expertise in facilitating safe spaces to the public.

  1. Awards, awards, awards

It was another award-winning year for our amazing team!

David and Justin are Andover BID Rangers and as such support Andover BID to help ensure that the town centre is a safe and pleasant place to be, while providing local businesses with security support for their premises.

Their actions in preventing serious harm being caused to a vulnerable and distressed teenager, were honoured with an ACS Pacesetters Security Officer of Distinction Award.

  1. 10 years with team Venture for Mobile Patrol Officer Otis

This year Otis, one of our most experienced officers, celebrated reaching a milestone of 10 years as a full-time employee with the company.

As a mobile patrol supervisor, Otis works operationally and also supports our wider mobile team, as well as covering static guarding assignments when needed.

Before joining Venture, Otis was a soldier in the British Armed Forces. He first started working in security as a second job while still in the army before going on to join the team at Venture full time in 2013.

He commented: “Working at Venture feels like home. Every day I come to work, it feels like a place I want to be!”

  1. Mobile security contract for Wiltshire Council

Rounding off a successful year, we were delighted to be awarded the mobile security contract for Wiltshire Council, following a competitive tender process. As such, our officers will be acting as the council’s ‘eyes and ears’ outside of working hours.

They will be keeping the authority’s buildings safe, while deterring theft and criminal damage, and supporting the secure movement of council staff, partners and contractors.

This will include locking and unlocking premises, carrying out checks and inspections of council buildings and vacant properties, responding to alarms and providing static security guard cover when needed.

Adding to the 85 customer sites already under our care across the county, we’re excited to be expanding our reach in this way.

Plus…

The company isn’t the only thing that has grown in 2023 - our team has too.

We are delighted to have recruited many new security officers into the Venture family and to have recognised and rewarded some outstanding employee performances with the offer of promotion.

We’ve also made some key appointments to our dedicated head office team, including new Operations Manager Matt, Events Administrator Sophie and People Administrator Terry.

As for the future, we are already busy working away on many exciting new plans and look forward to making 2024 our best year yet.
