Lights, camera, action – the making of Venture’s first company video!

Creating our first company video was something we had been thinking about doing for some time. And with our team and customer base growing and the company expanding into new areas, it seemed like the perfect time to now share our story. 

With the support of Andy Wood and Southampton based videographers Pulse8 Media, we set about defining how best to demonstrate our range of security services. But more importantly, we explored how we might capture the culture and spirit of Venture – to show the true essence of what we’re about. 

As a people-driven organisation, the relationships we build with our team members and our customers is something we’re very proud of, so we wanted to ensure we communicated that and had those relationships at the heart of our video.

After a lot of planning and organisation, we were finally armed and ready with a storyboard and an ambitious filming schedule, which would see us filming at various client locations across the region.

Here is a quick look behind the scenes at some of the shoots.

A sunrise visit to Stonehenge!

Venture has been protecting the world-famous Stonehenge monument on Salisbury Plain since April 2019 and it’s an absolute honour to have such a prestigious site under our care.

A team of our security officers are on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in all weathers, preserving the monument for generations to come. We also provide event security for four major events that take place on the site each year, as well as looking after the busy visitor centre.

When it came to filming, we could not have asked for better weather, or a more stunning backdrop. As well as having permission to film by the stones, we were also incredibly lucky to be able to use a drone.

Getting in gear with our Mobile Security Patrols Team

Our mobile security officers are out on the road every night and every weekend, paying visits at random times throughout each shift to different customers’ premises. As well as checking buildings are secure and that there is no suspicious activity, they will look out for maintenance problems and report back on any other issues they may see.

For some customers, they manage the locking and unlocking of the premises, as required by the individual business’ needs and will also attend sites in response to an alarm activation, to investigate the cause of the alarm and ensure the site is secure.

We gathered several of our officers together to conduct some interviews and to film them in action, along with a number of our vehicle fleet.

On patrol with our City Centre Security team!

For more than four years, our Town and City Centre Security team has been working with local councils and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to help tackle antisocial behaviour in key locations across the region.

The impact our officers have had – and continue to have on a daily basis – is incredible. They sit at the heart of a partnership model that sees local stakeholders coming together to help make towns and cities a safer, more inviting place, while supporting retailers and providing a reassuring presence for local residents and visitors.

The role they play in supporting street attached individuals is also something quite special, with benefits for the individuals and the wider community that go far beyond anything most people would expect.

Our front of house concierge services in the spotlight

Next up, we dropped by some of our security officers who are providing manned guarding for customers across the region, including for manufacturer Stannah and health insurance specialist Simplyhealth.

The roles that are taken on by a static security officer can vary greatly and typically involves a lot of interaction with employees, visitors and the general public. Which is why, at Venture, our officers are well trained in customer service and reception duties. Through our VentureFIRST initiative, they can provide a complete solution to all front of house needs.

The final bit of filming for our corporate video was at the incredible facility owned by Ocean Infinity - a world leading marine robotics company.

The 4am start was totally worth it for the chance to film at a location which resembles something from a Bond movie!

A real team effort

A huge thank you to all our amazing officers who took part and the many customers who kindly allowed us to film at their premises. Also, a big shout out to our office team, who helped co-ordinate the whole thing and make sure everyone was where they needed to be!

The end result may be a video that’s just a few minutes long, but many (many, many) hours went into the preparation and to making it all happen.
