Security Contractor Salisbury

As a leading security contractor in Salisbury, at Venture we’re proud to work with both public and private sector organisations, who are in need of security services they can rely on. Whether that’s providing manned guarding or mobile patrols, looking after the locking and unlocking of premises, or responding to alarms.

Here’s a snapshot of the different types of assignments we look after.

Manned Guarding and Event Security – Stonehenge

In 2019, Venture was awarded a contract by English Heritage to look after the world-famous Stonehenge monument on Salisbury Plain.

As well as providing static guarding for the monument around the clock and security for the onsite visitor centre, our event security team looks after four popular events each year. These are the summer and winter solstices, as well as two equinoxes held in spring and autumn.

Corporate Security – James Hay

A customer since 2014, James Hay Partnership is a specialist provider of retirement wealth planning. Headquartered in Salisbury and founded more than 40 years ago, the company employs over 650 people.

We provide a visible security presence at James Hay’s offices, physically protecting its premises and providing reassurance to the company’s employees. This includes static security officers based on site, with extra cover provided as required.

We also carry out mobile security patrols of the premises and provide key holding and alarm response services.

Corporate Security - Salisbury Cathedral

We have been working with Salisbury Cathedral since June 2017 and have responsibility for locking up the site every evening. Additionally, our security operatives carry out daily patrols of the cathedral site on foot, between the months of June and November, helping to tackle antisocial behaviour.

Following an attack on the Magna Carta’s casing and several incidents involving members of the public coming into the cathedral and acting aggressively, the cathedral expanded its security detail and we now provide a full-time static guard too.

“Venture’s services and the foot patrols have been very effective in tackling issues such as drug and alcohol use in the grounds, aggressive behaviour and littering. They have managed to combine patrolling with presenting a friendly and welcoming presence. Bolstering our security with the addition of a full-time static guard has proven equally as effective, allowing us to defuse any potentially threatening situations quickly, before the situation escalates.”

Town & City Centre Security - Salisbury Council / Salisbury BID

Since 2017, our officers have been conducting daily patrols of Salisbury city centre, including the busy Market Place, Guildhall Square and nearby area of green space. They provide a visible security presence and actively help to tackle antisocial behaviour, while supporting retailers, residents and visitors.

The patrols had an immediate and positive impact, resulting in a dramatic reduction in antisocial incidents. A key part of their role is to liaise between stakeholders, such as the council and police, to share information and act as a central point in the community partnership model.

“The guys have been unbelievably proactive and constantly visible to those of us in local businesses. I have watched them preventing street drinking and antisocial behaviour on the bench right outside. I would happily attribute some of the enhanced summer trade we are experiencing to the good work done by Venture Security. Long may it continue.”

Event Security: Salisbury Racecourse

Salisbury Racecourse has been a customer since 2015 and is a flat course that (pre-Covid) hosted 16 racing meets per year. With three tiers of spectator enclosure, along with corporate hospitality boxes, each raceday typically attracts up to 9,000 attendees.

Our event security team provides a comprehensive range of services, delivered by experienced security officers and event stewards, including safety and security consultancy, pre-event planning, access control, crowd safety management and parking management.

The racecourse is very proud of its security provision, which has been highly complimented by the police and local authority.
