About this course

The Door Supervisor Refresher qualification is designed for existing SIA Door Supervisor licence holders who need to complete the required refresher training to renew their licence. The course refreshes the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work safely, lawfully and professionally as a Door Supervisor, while addressing key areas of current security practice.

Learners will refresh their knowledge and understanding of:

  • Lawful and effective search procedures
  • Protecting vulnerable people and recognising safeguarding concerns
  • Responding appropriately to terrorism-related incidents
  • Preventing and responding to drink spiking incidents
  • Safe and lawful physical intervention techniques
  • Current legislation, professional responsibilities and industry best practice

Successful learners will achieve the Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Refresher), allowing them to renew their SIA Door Supervisor licence, subject to meeting the SIA's other licensing requirements.

First aid included

Our Door Supervisor Refresher course includes Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), which learners will need before completing their security training.

Already hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work certificate? Save £59.99 off your course. Your certificate must be an RQF Emergency First Aid at Work qualification with at least 12 months remaining when you complete our course. Simply send us a copy of your certificate and we'll provide a discount code to use when booking.

Questions people ask before booking

I've never worked in security. Is that a problem?

Not at all — no previous security experience is needed.

Our friendly team helps you build knowledge, skills and confidence, with support from pre-course learning through your guided course and beyond.

Why is first aid included in the security course?

First aid helps you respond confidently when someone needs urgent help.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is mandatory for SIA licence-linked security guarding and door supervision training. It's included in your course price — no hidden extras.

What if I fail an exam?

Don't panic — a setback doesn't mean the end of the road.

Our trainers help you prepare, explain assessment requirements and answer questions but a first-time pass isn't guaranteed.

Your booking includes two free resits if you need another try.

How long until I can work?

After you complete the course and pass your assessments, we'll aim to process results and issue certificates quickly.

Then apply through the SIA online portal as soon as you're eligible, providing everything requested. Processing times depend on your circumstances.

Once your licence is granted, you can take the next step towards security work.

Can you help me find work?

Yes — Venture is an established security employer as well as a training provider, so we understand what employers need.

Our in-house recruitment team can help you explore roles within our teams, with employment options to suit different circumstances and career goals.

We'll support you beyond training as you take your next step.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes — Klarna is available at checkout.

Choose Pay in 3 or pay in 30 days.

Options depend on eligibility, approval and your personal circumstances.

What if I can't make my course date?

Plans change — you can rearrange with at least 14 days' notice before your course starts.

A date move fee applies. Contact our team and we'll do our best to find a solution where possible.
