- Assessing and responding to an emergency
- Primary surveys and casualty assessment
- CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Managing an unconscious casualty

- Head, spinal and chest injuries

- Medical emergencies
- Anaphylaxis
- Seizures
- Diabetes-related emergencies

How the course works
1. Complete your e-learning
Once booked, you'll receive access to the required first aid e-learning.
Complete the online learning before attending your classroom sessions, allowing you to work through the knowledge-based content at your own pace.
2. Attend two days of practical training
You'll then attend two full days of face-to-face training with a qualified trainer.
The classroom sessions focus on developing and practising the practical skills needed to respond effectively to workplace emergencies. You'll have the opportunity to practise techniques, work through realistic scenarios and receive guidance and feedback from your trainer.
3. Complete your assessments
You'll complete the required knowledge and practical assessments as part of the course.
Successful learners will achieve the Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF).
Assessment
Assessment takes place throughout the course and includes both knowledge-based and practical assessment.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can apply first aid procedures safely and effectively in a range of workplace scenarios.
Practical elements and assessment are completed face-to-face.
Successful learners will receive the Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF).
Prerequisites
No previous first aid qualification is required.
Learners should:
- Be able to understand and communicate effectively in English.
- Be physically capable of participating in practical first aid training and assessment.
- Complete the required e-learning before attending the classroom training.
- Attend both classroom training days in full.
