Description
Our First Aid at Work (Requalification) course is delivered using a blended learning format, allowing learners to complete the theory at a time and pace that suits them before attending a practical classroom session.
Prior to attending, learners will complete approximately 6–7 hours of interactive online learning, covering the essential theory required for the qualification. Once complete, learners attend one day of face-to-face training, where they will practise and be assessed on the practical skills needed to respond confidently to workplace emergencies.
This modern approach reduces time away from the workplace while ensuring learners receive the same nationally recognised qualification.
Throughout the course, learners will cover:
- The role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Assessing emergency situations safely
- Adult CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Recovery position
- Choking
- Managing severe bleeding and shock
- Burns and scalds
- Fractures, sprains and soft tissue injuries
- Head, spinal and chest injuries
- Medical emergencies including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes and anaphylaxis
- Recording incidents and reporting procedures
Practical assessments and knowledge checks are completed during the classroom session to demonstrate competence.
Prerequisites
To attend this course, learners must:
- Hold a current First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate that requires renewal.
- Complete all mandatory online learning before attending the practical classroom session.
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Have a reasonable level of spoken and written English.
- Be physically able to complete the practical assessments, including CPR performed on the floor.
Please note: If your First Aid at Work certificate has expired for more than one month, we recommend completing the full 3-day First Aid at Work course rather than the requalification course.
