Counter Terrorism Policing has officially launched its annual summer safety campaign, urging the public to stay alert and report anything that doesn’t feel right, as the UK heads into the busy summer season.
As a security provider working across popular entertainment and sporting venues, visitor attractions, and town and city centres across the region, we’re proud to support this campaign and reinforce its message.
It’s an important reminder that we all have a role to play and as more people head out to enjoy themselves in the lighter, warmer summer months, keeping safe becomes a shared responsibility.
If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and tell security. No report is ever a waste of time.
Planning a trip out this summer? Here are some safety tips:
With major events, concerts, and attractions drawing large crowds over the coming months, a few simple steps can help keep your day running smoothly:
- Arrive early and allow extra time for security checks
- Be patient – checks may feel inconvenient, but they’re there to protect everyone
- Travel light and minimise what you bring; fewer bags mean quicker entry
- Stay alert and look out for each other
- Report anything that doesn’t feel right straight to security
- Never leave bags unattended, and don’t agree to look after someone else’s
- Follow staff instructions if an incident occurs
- And of course, in an emergency, always call 999.
Trust your instincts
The latest campaign is a timely reminder that keeping people safe isn’t just the job of security teams, it’s something we can all contribute to. Our officers will continue doing everything they can to protect the public and visitors to the sites we protect, but your awareness and willingness to speak up can make a real difference too.
Stay alert, trust your instincts, and if something doesn’t feel right, tell security straight away. Together, we can help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.
