Paul Howe Venture Security MD with the S12 members and Minister

Paul Howe, Managing Director of Venture Security, has been appointed to the newly formed Security Guarding Leadership Group (S12). The national initiative aims to raise standards across the UK’s private security sector.

The S12 has been launched to strengthen collaboration across the private security sector, providing a unified voice to shape policy and accelerate critical legislation. The members of S12 were officially unveiled at the International Security Expo, held at Olympia in London, where Security Minister Dan Jarvis MBE formally introduced the group.

Paul joins senior executives from across the industry, who come from major national providers, independent firms, trade associations and industry bodies. He commented: “It’s an honour to join the S12 at such a pivotal time for our industry. We face rising threat levels and increasing public scrutiny, and we must respond with integrity, collaboration and positive action.

“I’m proud to represent the voice of independent providers and to be helping shape a safer, more accountable future for security professionals across the UK.

“I’m fortunate to lead a team at Venture Security that shares my belief in raising standards across the profession. Their commitment gives me the time and resources needed to contribute fully to the S12 Group’s work.”

The group will regularly engage with the Minister, Homeland Security and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), offering insights from all areas of the industry. Its mission being to raise industry standards, help shape policy, accelerate the implementation of critical legislation and ensure that a diverse range of voices are heard to inform future decisions.

The group will also support the development of the Security Skills Academy, ensuring professionals are equipped to meet evolving threats and public protection needs.

Paul’s appointment reflects his long-standing commitment to professionalism, transparency, and innovation within the private security sector. As founder and Managing Director of Venture Security, Paul has grown the business from a one-man operation into one of the top 10 SIA-approved contractors in the country, employing more than 200 security officers.

Founded in 2006, Venture Security is a leading independent security company that operates across central southern England, including Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Surrey.

Venture’s officers currently protect more than 400 sites, including high-profile locations such as Stonehenge, The Roman Baths, and Newbury and Salisbury racecourses. One of the company’s most recent contract wins is Gloucester Rugby.

Alongside supporting professional services firms, manufacturers and housing associations, Venture Security also works in partnership with local authorities and business improvement districts to tackle anti-social behaviour in town and city centres.
