Having worked together on various projects since 2014, Fareham Borough Council approached Venture in 2018 for support in dealing with street attached individuals and substance abusers, who were frequenting car park stairwells within the town centre.

Venture’s security officers were enlisted to help keep these areas safe and clear of hazardous paraphernalia, such as used needles; their duties quickly being expanded to include the locking and unlocking of the stairwells, as well as nightly patrols.

In January 2020, Venture was then awarded an additional contract to provide daily patrols of the town centre, to help tackle antisocial behaviour and improve the local environment for retailers, residents and visitors

Venture’s officers carry out daily patrols of Fareham town centre, including regularly visiting key ‘hotspots’ that are known for attracting those engaged in drug and alcohol misuse and antisocial behaviour.

Their specialist training includes conflict management, basic and mental health first aid.

Partnership working is at the heart of everything Venture’s officers do. They are part of the town’s radio link scheme and work closely with retailers, the CCTV team and other agencies, including supporting the police and aiding prosecutions by providing vital evidence.

They also work alongside local charities and homelessness shelters, to signpost support services and secure urgent assistance for individuals they encounter, when it is required.

Venture security have done a very good job for us. We have had a huge amount of positive feedback from users of the town centre.
